– Naturopathic medicine views the body as a whole and recognizes the interplay between the mind and body. For most people, blood work that includes a CBC and WBC (hematology) differential, ferritin, fasting blood sugar, lipids, and TSH (thyroid) levels is a good start. Ensure that this test is more recent than 6 months.
– For people with a more complicated health picture, more tests may be requested at a later date. Additionally, Dr. Atkins can provide in-house urinalysis, bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA), and more. Other medical records may also be requested through your medical doctor.
– Dr. Atkins also requests that you provide him with a 7-day diet diary (everything consumed within the past week) prior to the appointment to give an indication of dietary factors that may be contributing. Eat as you normally would so that it is an accurate reflection of your day-to-day to ensure appropriate course of action.
– Please arrive 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork. If you are taking any medications/supplements, please write them out along with dosing and bring them with you for your first appointment.
– For more information about this topic, or to schedule a consultation call Dr. Atkins at (250) 655-1660.
